General information

The Bowen Fascial Release Technique is a safe remedial, hands-on therapy that is applied using very light pressure. Gentle non-invasive rolling-type moves are made over precise areas of muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia (connective tissue). Between each series of moves the client is given periods of rest that prompts the body to rest, repair and balance itself. There is no manipulation or adjustment of hard tissue and no force is used; the experience of a treatment is gentle, subtle and relaxing. Clients report the experience of pain relief, improvement of body function and recovery of energy. The treatment can be performed on skin or through light clothing.

A key element of Bowen is that it is a holistic therapy, it aims to balance the body as a whole, not just the presenting symptoms.

Common presentations include back, neck and shoulder pain, knee problems, sports injuries, RSI, respiratory problems, IBS, acute and chronic fatigue, infant colic, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel, to name but a few.

Practically any ailment can be addressed and many people use the Bowen Technique as a means of stress management and health maintenance.
