Kitson Hall Company Information

General information

The Church of England exists to serve others and its members strive to contribute to a more just and compassionate world.

At St Mary's Barnes, we are committed to serving the needs of people locally, nationally and internationally by supporting groups and organisations, financially and with our time. We are currently supporting the following charities with prayer, funds and practical support:

Age UK Richmond’s Barnes Green Centre:
The Barnes Green Centre has nearly 400 members who always receive a warm welcome from the staff and volunteers. There is a wide range of activities on offer. Members meet new people, take up a hobby or just have a cup of coffee, learn new subjects, maintain or improve their fitness, have a delicious lunch and become part of the Barnes community through events or volunteering. Many activities are related to physical health, including falls awareness, low or high impact exercise, Pilates and Tai Chi. Health checks are on offer, acupuncture, therapies and chiropody and all at subsidised rates. The sessions, including computer classes in a new IT suite, also stimulate the mind. Others encourage social interaction, such as art classes, talks and excursions or simply to have some fun. The FiSH Voluntary Community Care Scheme also has an office in the Centre

Castelnau Centre Project aims to promote a vibrant, self sustaining community in the Castelnau area of North Barnes. The Project manages a large programme of community development projects designed to meet the needs of its local residents of all ages, from a playgroup through after-school clubs and substantial provision for teenagers, to training for adults; and including social activities for all ages. 300-400 people a week use the Centre. The Project aims to move increasingly towards the community helping itself, rather than the Project being a provider of services, although the core programme would continue.

Christian Aid is an international development charity, supported by the churches in Britain and Ireland, that insists that the world can and must be swiftly changed to one where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty. It works globally for eradication of the causes of poverty, striving to achieve equality, dignity and freedom for all, regardless of faith or nationality. It provides urgent, practical assistance where need is great, tackling the effects of poverty as well as its root causes. Its work is founded on Christian faith, inspired by hope and acts to change an unjust world through charity – a practical love and care for our neighbours

FiSH stands for friendship, independence, support and help. It is a voluntary community care scheme offering help with practical tasks, support and friendship to anyone in need in Barnes, Mortlake and East Sheen. It provides a helpline; transport door to door for hospital and GP visits, weekly shopping trips and outings; and a befriending and social listening service.
