Dundee Stars Ice Hockey Club Company Information

General information

The city of Dundee has a proud tradition of top quality ice hockey, dating back to the famous Dundee Tigers and latterly with the Dundee Rockets.

Dundee 'Texol' Stars continued that tradition by winning the Findus British National League, the FBNL Playoffs and the Caledonia Cup in our inaugural season. On Sunday 26 August 2001, in Dundee's new Ice Arena, Tony Hand and his players restored to the city, a premier professional ice hockey team able to compete in the top British National League.

2002/03 Season. Stars won the Capital Cup, introduced by Edinburgh's BNL team, and were runners-up in the British National League. Tony Hand continued as player/coach with Roger Hunt as his assistant coach.

2003/04 Season. Stars failed to win any honours this season with Roger Hunt as head coach. Tony Hand returned to Edinburgh.

2004/05 Season. Roger Hunt, Texol Stars' head coach for the second year, put together his roster to compete against 15 of the UK's top teams. During the season the Stars competed in the British National League, with additional games against Elite League teams, finishing the season as BNL Play-off Champions. Stars won the Capital Cup for the second time.

Season 2005/06 sees the Stars in Scottish National League action only as the professionals are forced to sit out the season. Following the collapse of the British National League Dundee Stars, and neighbours Fife Flyers, had no professional league to play in. Stars failed to win any honours in this season.

Season 2006/07. Stars were runners-up to Fife Flyers in the Scottish National League and the Autumn Cup, and runners-up to Whitley Warriors in the Northern League Play-offs.

Season 2007/08. Stars won the Autumn Cup and the Scottish Cup and finished runners-up in the Northern League and Scottish Premier League Play-offs.

Season 2008/09. Stars finish runners-up again, this time in the Celtic League.

Season 2009/10. Roger Hunt left the club and Iain Robertson took on the role of Player/Coach, with Bobby Haig as his assistant. Captained by Gary Wishart (pictued left) Stars won the Autumn Cup and finished runners-up to Solway Sharks in the Northern League Play-offs, and runners-up to Fife Flyers in the Celtic League and Celtic League Play-offs.

Season 2010/11. Stars team up with Dundee Ice Arena and top flight hockey returns to the city following their successful application to join 9 other teams in an expanded Elite League. Stars bring in player/coach Dan Ceman (pictured right), 2009/10 captain of Danish Elite champions SønderjyskE, and he brings in a further 10 imports.
