Shine Cymru

General information

Shine Cymru has been established to help support young adults (aged 16-25) with ASD and other moderate to complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities. The aim of the centre is to help support each individual with their transition from school/college onto adulthood. The centre will provide individuals with opportunities to improve confidence, independence, life skills, literacy and numeracy skills, decision making skills and work related skills. This will be provided by a package of in house activities, community based activities, education, and supported work placements. Each individual will have a needs based assessment and given a bespoke, person centered package to help them reach their personal goals. We will work along side partner organizations including work based learning providers, employers, community projects, schools/colleges, social services, education, and health. Each individual will have regular reviews to monitor progress. The reviews will follow the person centered planning review process currently in place in schools and colleges. Each review will incorporate the views of the individual and their network of support. Staff within the centre will be made up of support staff, catering staff, therapists, voluntary workers, student placements (from Universities/colleges). We will also work alongside therapists/health workers depending on the need of the individual.
