In The Beginning………

MacPhails Coaches originated in the early 1920s when David MacPhail operated his fleet from Newarthill on both scheduled service work and local transfers. Following a compulsory buy out from the the local authority in the 1930s David retired from the industry until assisting his son Daniel Scott MacPhail (better known as Scott) in 1948 to create the business which has continued on to this day.

Built on a strong foundation, based on honesty, reliability, high quality and attention to customer needs, these same principles have assisted MacPhails to maintain our place as a credible operator through the generations. Indeed the firm now is in its third generation from Scott, who with his wife Elizabeth provided great service to the local community until retiring in the late 1980s when David and his brother Henry continued the strong beliefs in customer deliver that delivered success for the firm.

Into the new millennium David opted for retirement and handed the reins onto his son Martin, who worked on with Henry until his retirement in 2004. This junction also oversaw the business move premises to Salsburgh, where the firm operates from today.

Our Team , Your Team

All our drivers are highly trained professionals and have experience in all types of private hire, conference and tour work. Many of our drivers have been with our company for several years and we are proud of the many requests and compliments we receive for them. Our driving team is supported 24/7 by our operations team to ensure that your safety and enjoyment is first and foremost.

Every one of our drivers is Disclosure Scotland checked prior to starting work for us, and they are put through a tough induction process both driving and practical, to ensure that we employ only those with the relevant experience and professionalism. Drivers are selected on the basis of their experience and personality to ensures that our customers receive the kind of care and attention to detail they deserve.

All our driving team are undergoing the CPC driver training accreditation which ranges in content from basic safety procedures to defensive and interactive driving tests. All our drivers are provided with a full company uniform, and we check our driver’s history by undertaking a drivers licence check by the DVLA yearly ensuring they have the full licence entitlement for the type of vehicle they are likely to drive.

Comfort & Safety

Maintenance of our fleet for your comfort and safety is our primary concern. We operate from a modern well equipped workshop where we check our vehicles with diligence for safety and customer focus. Our inspections are at two weekly intervals which coupled with our daily routine checks keep our well trained engineers ahead of any situations.

Our firm has invested heavily in our fleet and we recognise that the safety of our passengers is the most important part of our business, with that in mind, from the moment your driver arrives at the start of your journey you will receive a full welcome and our driver will spend time explaining the vehicles safety and comfort features, this ensures that you are aware of all facilities available to you and nothing is left to chance
