General information

Arthur's Chandlery is located on the main road into Gosport (just beyond and opposite the Aldi Supermarket if you are coming into town) and we have parking on our driveway or directly in front of the shop.
Our Shop is distinctive as it is located in the only 150 year old building in the area!
Arthur's is a Marine Chandlery on the Gosport Peninsular adjacent to the 3 main Marinas and close to all the Clubs based in Gosport.
We supply a wide range of practical items to help customers maintain their boats as well as having a wealth of knowledge.
We can arrange liferaft and safety equipment servicing, Sail and cover laundry, Rope splicing, running repairs to covers and smaller sails, & light rigging work (such as replacement guardwires).
We also have a number of 4 man liferafts available for hire at competitive prices.
As boat owners ourselves we know many of the common problems that crop up and are happy to give advice freely.
People often ask "Where is Arthur". The truth is there never was an "Arthur" as such. R Arthur and Co was established in the early 1960's at a long demolished site close to the Castle Tavern by a Bob Arthur who ran the Gosport shop plus another business in Emsworth until the 1970's when he retired to the West Country (we believe). Rumour has it that following his death a few years ago his ashes were scattered over the wreck site of the Mary Rose.
The Arthur's name has stuck even though the business has passed through a number of owners and survived a few re-locations. Ian, Mike and Sofia have been running the business since 2001.
