The Portsmouth Grammar School is a leading co-educational day school renowned for excellent teaching, superb pastoral care and co-curricular opportunities. The support and challenges encountered by pupils share a purpose: that they should be happy and successful, in that order. Seeking to provide excellence in all areas of school life, we encourage pupils to think not only about where they will be at 18 but where they aspire to be at 25.
As the oldest school in the city, we honour our Founder, Dr William Smith’s legacy, whilst adapting our values for the 21st Century. As a family school, our Nursery for 2½-4 year-olds, Junior School for children aged 4-11 and Senior School for students aged 11-18, are all dedicated towards pupils thriving and reaching their potential.
Set in historic Old Portsmouth, our facilities have helped enhance a national reputation for the quality of co-curricular activities, particularly in music, drama, sport and outdoor pursuits.
