Fillings - composite is a white filling material which restores the tooth after decay. The colour will be matched to your teeth giving it a more aesthetically pleasing result.

We can also replace any amalgam fillings with composite for cosmetic purposes.

Crowns - a crown, sometimes known as a cap, is an artificial restoration which is placed over a prepared tooth to give it strength and a natural shape and look. A crown is an ideal permanent solution for badly damaged or broken teeth. Some patients also have them to improve the appearance of their teeth.

Bridges - dental bridges are false teeth that replace one or more missing teeth. The false tooth is known as a pontic and is fused inbetween two crowns. This serves as an anchor by attaching to the teeth on each side of the false tooth and thereby bridging them together.

Dentures - removable dentures are one of the most common ways of replacing missing teeth. Dentures can replace either a few or many teeth (a partial denture, or complete dentures).

Tooth whitening - if your teeth have become discoloured over time, there are now ways to reverse this effect. Many patients choose to lighten their teeth to improve their smile.

We use a deep bleaching whitening method, which enhances the colour of your teeth. This product is called Enlighten. This treatment involves a two week home treatment, followed by a one hour appointment with your dentist.

Hygiene - dental hygienists are specially trained to work with the dentist to complement their treatments and dental care.

They play an important role in dental health care and are mainly concerned with gum health, showing people correct home care and applying preventive materials to the teeth and gums.

The hygienist’s main role is to professionally clean the teeth for the patient. This is usually called scaling and polishing. However, perhaps their most important role is showing the patient the best way to keep the teeth free of plaque. They also give advice on diet and preventing dental decay. The hygienist will work with your dentist to provide care tailored to your needs.

Implants - a dental implant is typically a small screw-shaped attachment usually made from titanium. It is inserted within the jawbone to take the place of a missing tooth. Once osseointegration (when the bone attaches firmly to the implant, taking about three months) has occurred, a replacement tooth can be secured to the top of the implant. This new tooth can look, feel and perform just like a natural tooth. It is also possible to use multiple implants to support a denture or bridge.

Veneers - veneers are a natural and healthy way of improving your smile, usually carried out on the top teeth. Veneers are like a false fingernail that is bonded onto the surface of your tooth. This is a cosmetic solution for stained or chipped teeth giving it a life-like appearance.

Sedation - your dentist may recommend an intravenous or IV sedation. This is an injection by our anaesthetists, either in the back of your hand or in your arm. The dose will depend on the amount of treatment needed and the length of time it will take to complete.

Sedation is used for all dental treatment including removal of wisdom teeth or general treatment for high anxiety patients. The Parade Dental Practice has been dealing with and treating patients on a regular basis under sedation since 1992.
