The first thing most business owners should so is actually sack themselves IMMEDIATELY. Let me explain….When you started your business, what were your hopes and dreams the day you made that decision?

For some it may have been a necessity due to suddenly no income or needing more, it may have been changes in circumstances, a desire to have a better work life balance, a calling - that sense of purpose, a yearning for independence, wanting to be in control of your own destiny, creating financial freedom and true wealth.

What was yours and can you remember how it felt then, the excitement, nerves, sheer panic, all those emotions mixing together? So how is it all going, how long has it been now? Is it still that dream or has it become more of the same day to day, more frustrations, than celebrations? Are you working with whom you want, when you want, where you want and how you want?

But as Einstein is famous for saying: “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity” and I am sure you have heard this SO many times, but only when you really think about it and then apply it does it leap out at you.

To have all you desire I would guess you would need to either grow your business to give you that leverage, or alternatively shape your business to effectively “sack yourself”. But that takes risks doesn’t it and for some the next step is one of the biggest gambles they could take as it may mean new resource, bigger investment, double commitment, making tough decisions, incredible focus and going more into the rabbit hole to hopefully emerge from the other end, I said hopefully as it will always be a gamble.

As this is scary stuff, especially if to get to our dream position we have to go into some very new places that require new knowledge, new skills, awareness, and resources. We know we don’t know what we don’t know.

It is therefore too easy to do more of the same and hopefully hit on the one or two things that will change it all. But the chance of that is quite rare, just look at the statistics.

But let’s change that picture in your head for a moment. Imagine you already have done what you need to do on numerous occasions, you already have the skills, knowledge, awareness and resources and most importantly you know what you know and it is the yellow brick road to your Emerald City.

Well this is where I come in. I have built and grown many businesses for myself and other shareholders, some from scratch, some established and some initially losing money. These businesses have turned over a few thousand to a few hundred million.

Since my first business in 1991 I have sold and bought many businesses of all shapes and sizes and my SCALE model has helped other business owners achieve their goals.
