Solent Minds

General information

Solent Mind began life in 1962, first as Southampton and New Forest Mind, then merging with Eastleigh Mind in 2004 to become the largest third sector provider of mental health services across Hampshire.

We are affiliated to Mind, the national mental health charity. This means that we are part of the national network of Local Mind Associations (LMAs) across England and Wales, which gives us and our service users access to a wide range of information, resources, support and guidance. The Mind name is a recognised and trusted brand which we are proud to be a part of.

We are an independent registered charity and company limited by guarantee, operating across Hampshire, Southampton, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. Our mission is "to offer a range of high quality services to improve people’s mental wellbeing and to promote choice and rights to diverse communities who need our support."

We operate in accordance to our size – that of a medium sized charity, employing some 200 staff, approximately 40 volunteers and running some 45 different services county-wide – but we have retained our 'grass-roots’ approach of a smaller organisation.
