General information

HMK Legal is an employment law consultancy based in the North East of England and was set up by Helen Kay, a highly regarded and experienced employment law specialist.

Helen’s aim in setting up HMK Legal is to provide a personal, high quality employment law service at a price that businesses, third sector organisations and individuals can afford.

Following a career in scientific research in various arenas including the health sector, academia and the Scientific Civil Service, Helen converted to Law.

After qualifying as a solicitor in 2005, she then specialised in Employment law for over 8 years before leaving private practice to set up HMK Legal.

Helen’s broad-ranging work experiences have given her a valuable insight into a variety of working environments and of working with different types of people.

She has worked with all sizes of business from owner-managed businesses to PLCs, and across many different sectors including healthcare, further education, technology, research & development, manufacturing, retail, hospitality, IT, service providers, charities and not-for-profit organisations.

Whilst Helen has predominantly acted for employers, she has also advised individuals, particularly at senior and/or professional level.

Helen has frequently been praised by clients for her clear, pragmatic and commercial advice; her approachability, thoroughness, tenacity and attention to detail; and for her excellent customer service.
