The Rug Shop of Tunbridge Wells is an upmarket, boutique shop in the heart of Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Each of our team members share the same passion for Oriental carpets. We pride ourselves in being able to deliver a specialised and personal service, based on more than 40 years of knowledge and experience.

Each Oriental carpet has its own colourful story to tell, and our experienced team will be able to relay this for you. This will not only include the origins of each piece, but also the unique weaving techniques used in the origin the carpet was sourced from. In fact, it is likely one or more of our team have visited the village during their extensive travels and witnessed the carpet making process first hand.

When you contact or visit The Rug Shop of Tunbridge Wells you will be given a very warm welcome, by either Ali or Stephen who will love to show you around.

Stephen gained his passion for Oriental Carpets working closely with Ali, at one of the largest Oriental Carpet dealers in the South (The Oriental Rug Shop). Most days you can find Stephen sitting on a stack of rugs researching the history of each piece to unlock the secrets and stories within each piece.

Ali grew up running around the largest Grand Bazaar in the world, The Bazaar Farsh, Iran. Where his father owned an Oriental Carpet Shop, for over 40 years. It is due to these strong family connections with the Oriental carpet industry that we can source carpets of the very best quality at exceptional prices. Ali has worked in the Oriental Carpet industry all his working life, and most recently at The Oriental Rug Shop (before it sadly ceased trading).
