I love cats and myself have three Maincoons. I understand the necessity of grooming and also understand how difficult it can be to do this. I have undertaken two intensive training courses run by very experienced groomers with over 25 years experience. I have been assessed and awarded a certificate of competence. I have full Public Liability Insurance. Above all else I have the cats welfare in mind throughout the whole grooming process and I will allow the cat rest/play time. I aim to make the grooming process as stress free as possible for your cat.

Cats are clean however they only lick their coats they cannot clean them or remove knots or mats. Cats cannot clean their eyes or remove fleas or ear mites. Cats coats are naturally oily and over time this oil can become excessive. Cats groom themselves to keep their bodies cool and to remove dirt and debris. Cats develop hair balls in response to all that self-grooming. Regular maintenance grooming can reduce shedding , the ingestion of hair, and matting. Plus reduce the amount of fur left on your furniture and not to mention your favorite black trousers.

Long-haired cats can get severely matted if they are not brushed regularly. Hair that is dirty is more likely to develop mats. If a cat has a lot of matting, bathing can worsen the knots if not first removed. This is because once wet, knots tighten as they dry, making them pull on the skin and becoming more uncomfortable. Knots and mats should be removed before bathing using a clipper, not scissors.
