Dunstable North Children’s Centre (known locally as The Beehive) aims to provide a high-quality service that meets the needs of the community by offering a wide range of services, groups and sessions to support and guide families with children under five. The aim of Sure Start Children’s Centres is to improve outcomes for all children.
The Beehive Children’s Centre opened in October 2008 and is based on the same site as Beecroft Academy, Westfield Road, Dunstable. The Centre serves the North Dunstable area; this includes the Northfields, Watling and Dunstable Central wards. All visitors to the Beehive are welcomed however, regardless of their postcode!! We have a wide range of activities for all the family to enjoy at The Beehive and other local venues including our ‘Bumble Bees’ Stay and Play session on Mondays at Dunstable Salvation Army, and our baby groups (Baby Bees for 0-6 months & Explorer Bees for 6-12 months) at The Beehive on Fridays, or why not visit our ‘Honey Pots' group at St Fremunds Church Hall on Thursdays? We also have a drop in Baby Clinic on Wednesday afternoons 1.30-3.30pm. We are extremely proud to say that we have recently gained our ‘Healthy Under 5s’ award for the sixth year running!
We have staff trained to support families in a wide range of topics such as parenting advice, adult education and employment opportunities, baby massage, baby yoga, speech and language, housing advice, benefits calculations and domestic abuse. Forthcoming activities to look out for include Baby Massage classes and Baby Signing sessions, holiday activities for children plus adult learning courses in Health & Social Care and First Aid. Additonally, we frequently offer parenting courses, and sessions supported by our Speech and Language Therapist.
