Nutritionists - Professor Don MacLaren and Dr Graeme Close have worked with many of the most successful sporting teams in the World including Liverpool FC, Team GB Rowing and Munster Rugby. Professor Don MacLaren Cert.Ed., BSc, MSc, PhD
Don is a professor of Sports Nutrition renowned for his expert publications on the subject in journals and books. He was secretary of the ‘physiology section’ of BASES and is an accredited physiologist with the British Olympic Association. In addition, due to the contribution of his work he has been made a Fellow of both BASES (FBASES) and the European College of Sports Science (FECS). Being research active since 1980 he is in high demand when it comes to nutrition consultancy. Over the years Don has been a nutritional consultant with Bolton Wanderer’s FC, Derby County FC, Manchester City FC, Liverpool FC and Sale Sharks RUFC, currently working with Everton FC and Bolton Wanderers FC.

Dr Graeme L. Close BSc (Hons), ASCC, PhD
Graeme is a senior lecturer in exercise metabolism and sports nutrition; having completed his PHD in 2003 he has published various books and chapters on sports nutrition. A former rugby league professional it is Graeme’s dedication to the development of sports nutrition that have seen him regularly advise governing bodies, most recently UK Sport on antioxidants and athletic performance. Graeme has worked as a nutrition and strength and conditioning consultant with various sporting teams including GB Rowing, and is currently head of sports nutrition at Munster Rugby, working with Salford Red Devils and various elite athletes.
