Yews Community Centre

General information

The Yews is a Community Centre in an attractive Victorian house on the picturesque ‘Muster Green’ in Haywards Heath.

Conveniently located a short walk from the train station in one direction and the Town Centre in the other, also on our doorstep is ‘The Broadway’, featuring cafés, restaurants and bars to suit most tastes and budgets.

As a charity and social enterprise, The Yews is proud to be home to over 30 not-for profit organisations providing free or low-cost services to a wide cross-section of the community. We can do this thanks in no small part to the support of a range of commercial enterprises who also make use of the facilities. This ‘whole community’ model means that we serve over 600 people every week in our much loved centre - there is truly something for everyone!

To supplement any commercial income, we run regular fundraising events. The monies raised, alongside legacies and any grants that we are able to secure, are ploughed back into enhancing the building and supporting our running costs.

We also provide financial help to many of the charities that use us towards special activities such as Summer and Christmas events. These are especially important to those whose mobility or communication is impaired or who suffer from depression or other issues.

Six rooms at The Yews are available for short or long-term hire at competitive rates. All rooms are well-appointed and flexible to suit your needs. There are well equipped kitchens on both floors. Much of the ground floor is fully accessible with disabled toilet facilities and the whole building is regularly serviced and maintained. The Yews is Wi-Fi enabled.

At the rear of the property our secluded garden features a paved play area, outdoor play equipment, a safety surface and an outdoor sitting and grassed area. A limited amount of parking is available on-site, supplemented by public car parks a short walk away.
