1MW AD Biogas Plant with 10,000te Digestate Lagoon. Processing packaged food waste, cattle slurry and since December 2016 producing PAS110 Biofertiliser
At High Hedley Biogas Plant we take food waste from supermarkets and commercial kitchens which we then de-packages and put the packaged material through our Atritor food Depack unit. The organic material (the food) is then fed into food storage tanks where it is called into the mixing room along with recirculated digestate as a dilution medium so we use less water. Once the mixture is of the correct dry matter %, it is fed to the two Digesters.
High Hedley Biogas Plant is an AD Plant. AD stands for Anaerobic Digestion which is the breakdown of organic material by micro-organisms in the absence of oxygen. AD produces biogas, a methane-rich gas that can be used as a fuel, and Digestate, a source of nutrients that can be used as a fertiliser.
