One of the ‘Top 100 things to do before you die’ and the only festival to appear in the ‘Discovery Channel – Top 25 World Travel Experiences’, Edinburgh's Hogmanay is one of the world's greatest New Year celebrations. Join us for three days of spectacular events, as we show the world how to party!

Street Party
31st December | 7pm
The Best. Party. Ever.
Four Street Party stages with live music, DJs, giant screens and street entertainment. A breathtaking fireworks display, set against the backdrop of the iconic Edinburgh Castle.

Torchlight Procession
30 December | 7pm
A spectacular sea of light. Blaze through the city accompanied by a cast of pipers and drummers, bear a torch or grab a spot and watch the river of light flow through the heart of Edinburgh.

The Torchlight Procession will take a new route through the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, down the Royal Mile and into Holyrood Park culminating in #ScotWord with torches spelling out one word chosen by the young people of Scotland answering the question “What makes you most proud to live in Scotland? #ScotWord.

Ceilidh Under The Castle
31st December | 8.30pm
Whirl or jig, fling or be flung under Edinburgh Castle. Join hands with old friends and new to dance in the new year with a full ceilidh band and plenty of local food and drink to keep you spinning all night.

Bairns Afore
31st December | 5pm
A new event for Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, this is one for the families! Celebrate with the kids, with spectacular fireworks and family entertainment, and all afore bedtime!

Message From the Skies
1 - 25 January 2018
A new, free event for Edinburgh’s Hogmanay 2018. Take a literary journey through this incredible city. Read a new story by leading Scottish writer Val McDermid in collaboration with Pearlfisher, Double Take Projections and soundscape artists told by projections onto the city's beautiful buildings and landmarks.

But this isn’t all, we have plenty of exciting news to come and more spectacular events, which will be going on sale in September. These include:

Loony Dook
1 January 2018 | 10.30am
Silliness is good for the soul - along with a good dose of freezing seawater!. Combat that hangover by dressing up and running into the revitalising waters of the Firth of Forth at one of Scotland’s finest Hogmanay traditions.
On sale in September.

Concert in the Gardens
31st December | 9.00pm
Celebrate Hogmanay in spectacular style at the Concert in the Gardens main stage, featuring festival headliner Rag'n'Bone Man, plus more special guests still to be announced.

Rag’n’Bone Man released his debut album Human in February to mass critical acclaim, going platinum within just 3 weeks and selling more than three quarters of a million copies in the UK to date. He has won two BRIT Awards and sold out tours across the UK and Europe.
