Thirty two years ago the Verandah introduced a new style of Indian restaurant to Scotland. Although this style was new it embodied the traditional cooking and foods of the Indian subcontinent. The curry dishes were delicious and subtle, the décor warm and welcoming, the atmosphere serene, the service courteous and friendly.

By rejecting the red flock wallpaper and unbalanced hot curries for delicate delicious dishes in an atmosphere that is welcoming and relaxing. The Verandah broke with the conventional view of what made an Indian restaurant. The Verandah has created a dining experience that has proved difficult to rival or copy.

Despite being awarded every major honour that a restaurant can receive, such as "Best Indian Restaurant" by Scottish Good Food Guide;"Restaurant of The Year" by M8, "Best In Britain" by National Restaurant Directory; "Best In Scotland" by Good Curry Guide; Les Routiers "Casserole Award", twelve years in a row; listed in Britain's Top Indian Restaurants By The Good Curry Guide and has continually received accolades from restaurant critics and other guide books. Despite all these awards and recognitions we value the compliments of countless customers including visiting personalities such as Clint Eastwood, Sir Cliff Richard and many others.

The Verandah remains reassuringly top class. However, the intimacy of the service is never lost neither is the attention to detail, be it the fresh flowers on the table or the final hint of seasoning for a specially cooked dish. Our award winning Chef constantly reminds us that, "We always remember that our customers are our most valued asset and no amount of awards can shift our attention from providing the best Bangladeshi food and culture experience that we can.” Please be assured that we always do our best to maintain the high standard as recognised by Channel Four's Curry Connection, Sky, ITV, GMTV, BBC and food critics.

The Verandah continues to challenge the hackneyed image of the Indian Restaurant as evidence by its innovative drinks and wine list, specifically crafted to match fine wines to the cuisine of The Verandah. As soon as this was introduced, other Indian restaurants followed. The Verandah continues to produce new dishes for patrons of North Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine. There is no doubt that the Verandah's imitators will be left behind because customers have always preferred the original, genuine and special cuisines of this well loved and successful restaurant.
