It all started in 1913 …. With a love story ….

Almost a century ago, Mabel Williams fell in love with a young man. Desperate for his attention, Mabel attempted to darken her gaze by putting soot from an oil lamp on her eye lashes. Thomas Williams, Mabel’s younger brother, a pharmacist, decided to help her. He concocted a lash darkener by mixing Vaseline and carbon dust. This is how the first mascara was born!
Two years later, T. Williams founded his cosmetics company and named it Maybelline. The name was derived from his sister’s name Mabel and Vaseline.

Since then Maybelline New York has been a history in the making, taking trends from the catwalk to the sidewalk, empowering women to make a statement, explore new looks.

Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s Maybelline

بدأ كلّ شيء عام 1913 بقصّة حبّ...

قبل نحو قرن، وقعت ميبل ويليامز في غرام شابّ. في محاولة يائسة للفت نظره، سعت ميبل إلى تكحيل عينيها عبر وضع السّخام من مصباح الزّيت على رموشِها. فقرّر شقيقها الأصغر، توماس ويليامز، وهو صيدلي، أن يساعدها. إبتكر مغمّق للرّموش بمزيج من الفازلين وغبار الكربون. وهكذا وُلدت أوّل ماسكارا!
بعد ذلك بعامين، أسّس توماس ويليامز شركتَه الخاصّة لمستحضرات التجميل وأطلق عليها إسم ميبيلين، تيمّناً بشقيقته ميبل ومادة الفازلين.
منذ ذلك الحين أصبحت ميبيلين نيويورك رائدة في مجالها، تأخذ أخر الصيحات من منصة عروض الأزياء إلى الشارع وتُمكّن المرأة من التعبير عن نفسها وإكتشاف طلّات جديدة.
