General information

Founded in 1994 Solarsense has played an active role in the development of the green energy sector in the South West. Initially specialising in Solar PV and Solar Thermal, the company now also provides trusted advice and installation of biomass boilers, ground and air-source heat pumps and energy efficient lighting.

As utility bills continue to rise renewable technologies are being seen as a means of resource reduction, rather than solely energy production.

As well as more than 7,000 domestic installations Solarsense has worked with commercial clients on some of the region’s most high profile industrial systems including those for:
• Michael Eavis at Glastonbury Festival
• Bristol City Council
• @Bristol Science Centre
• The National Composites Centre
• The Tobacco Factory
• Bristol Zoo
• the Universities of Bath and the West of England and others.

Solarsense is proud to have been recognised by the industry for its work in the region. In 2011 Solarsense won Renewable Energy Association Company of the Year – a huge accolade for a strictly regional company who only operate in the South West. More recent awards include:
• Bristol Post Business Awards for Environmental and Community engagement
• 2012: Regen SW - Renewable Energy Installer of the Year
• 2012: Solar UK Awards – Small installation of the year (Montgomergy school)

Solarsense take its social responsibility seriously and feels it is only right that organisations do what they can to share their knowledge. Each year Solarsense invests time and expertise in direct support of selected charitable projects throughout the UK and beyond. Projects have spanned Ethiopia, Uganda, Senegal, India and Nepal. As well as work overseas Solarsense also plays an active role in the Bristol Solar City initiative which aims to see Bristol recognised as UK’s solar capital and install 1GW of solar PV by 2020.
