General information

Gillies was founded in 1895 by James Gillies, moving to Broughty Ferry in 1906 as cabinetmakers, upholsterers and removal contractors before finally opening on the current site as ‘House Furnishers’ in 1939. Since then Gillies has continued to provide the North East of Scotland with the highest quality home furnishings, carpets and flooring.

In our showrooms you will find a huge selection of sofas, dining furniture, occasional furniture, beds, bedroom furniture, carpets and all types of flooring. Within our flagship Broughty Ferry store you will also find curtains, wallpapers, soft furnishings, linens, cookware, giftware and occasional lighting. (Inverness does not yet have a flooring department).

Our buyers work exceptionally hard to ensure that when you find yourself in a Gillies store, you are surrounded by the furnishing trade’s leading brands such as Ercol, Tempur, Ekornes, Vi-spring, Duresta, Brintons, and Karndean, as well as a vast selection of interesting and often unusual furnishings sourced from east to west. With many of our products being readily available from stock for immediate delivery.

Gillies is still family run today with the 5th generation deeply involved in the business and maintains the same philosophy of excellent service, innovation and value for money as it did over 100 years ago.
