Dr Guirish Radja

General information

A consultant psychiatrist in Birmingham, Dr Guirish Radja focuses his practice on conditions, such as mood disorders, anxiety, memory problems and trauma.
He qualified at Imperial College School of Medicine in London, Dr Radja also holds a Masters degree, with distinction in Clinical Neuropsychiatry from the University of Birmingham.

An initial consultation with Dr Radja, lasting approximately one hour, involves a complete assessment of mental state, memory functions (as required), blood tests and neuroimaging such as CT/MRI/SPECT scans. Specifically, Dr Radja is experienced in the assessment and management of the psychiatric consequences of neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. He has specialist expertise in treating conditions affecting the elderly using both psychotropic drugs and psychological interventions such as cognitive behaviour therapy.

In general, treatment would involve a holistic approach using both medications and psychological treatments as appropriate. Dr Radja also uses eye movement desensitisation reprocessing (EMDR), a psychotherapy that treats and assists in the healing from symptoms and emotional distress resulting from traumatic life experiences.

With research interests including the treatment of limbic encephalitis, Dr Radja has been published in peer-reviewed international journals including Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry and The Journal of Neuropsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences

Dr Radja works within the NHS as a consultant psychiatrist in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, and private consultations are available at BMI Priory in Birmingham. He is recognized by most insurers as an approved specialist.
