PRESS RELEASE FEB 2012:

A Postcard from Brighton has rapidly established it’s self as one of the fastest growing and most successful women’s jersey and knitwear collections in the UK. This British brand debuted at Pure in February 2011 and in just under a year has established an account base most brands would long for. A POSTCARD FROM BRIGHTON is sold in over 120 carefully selected boutiques, stores and online retailers across the UK. The collection its self consists of a mix of t-shirts, sweats , vests, midi and maxi skirts and dresses along with a range of knitwear in a selection of amazing over dyed colours which give the unique look and vintage feel to the collection. The complete collection is designed and produced in the UK which massively increases its appeal to both the consumer and retailer. This short order brand has a wholesale price point from £5-£20. The competitive pricing structure allows for a 3 mark up across the complete collection, whilst still providing the final consumer with a very affordable price offer and of course the retailer with a healthy margin. The brand delivers new collections every six to eight weeks, constantly refreshing the offer in store. The short order model is proving a hit with the retailers who love being able to spend closer to the trading period and not having to commit to product 6 months in advance of the season. In the short time since the brand launched A Postcard from Brighton has found a place in the market where it is as much at home next to brands like Firetrap, French Connection as it is with DKNY and Vivienne Westwood etc…The brand appeals to all age groups which adds to its appeal and success in the market.Mark Myatt, managing director at Don’t Panic London ltd, the company behind the brand A Postcard from Brighton said “manufacturing here in the UK allows us to develop the collection close to the season, ensuring we are on track with the right colours and trends. We are also able to react quickly to bestselling lines in the collection ensuring a good stock service for our customers; remanufacture can be as little as 7-14 days. Myatt opened the first standalone store for the brand in Leicester in October 2011. The store trades under the name Lisa’s Boutique but only stocks A Postcard from Brighton. Sales have been fantastic since the opening and the store traded particularly well in the run up to Christmas. Myatt said “Having your own stores allows you to experience first-hand trade with the brand in a retail environment.” The instant success of the store has led Myatt to consider the possibility of franchise and shop in shop opportunities in the near future. Manchester fashion agency- Jam Agent, responsible for sales in the UK and Ireland has been astounded at the rapid growth of the brand. Kally Shukla, one of the directors at Jam Agent said “Working with this brand has been amazing and in the current climate and recession A Postcard from Brighton is ticking all the boxes with our customers. When you receive cheques with love hearts on them and letters of thanks along with payments you have to know that you are onto a winner….”Anyone who meets A Postcard from Brighton’s designer; Lainey Poulson knows that her passion for the brand will without doubt ensure that this brand continues to grow from strength to strength. 20 years in the trade Lainey brings with her a wealth of experience starting with trend and colour forecasting and then designing for the whole of the high street. Lucky enough to have worked with the likes of Jean Paul Gaultier and Paul Smith in her years with Courtaulds giving her a non-compromising attitude and passion for her designs, all proudly manufactured in the UK.For the new SS12 collection think Mermaid shimmer, vintage 50s and the seduction of the 20s with Gatsby glamour. Colours are drenched in the palest washes of icy blues, shimmering spearmint and pinks with injections of brights for later in the season. A postcard from Brighton has already made it into the top ten bestselling brand list at Drapers, an achievement everyone involved is delighted with. The eagerly awaited SS12 collection will showcase at Pure, stand no. E51in February 2012. We believe A Postcard from Brighton is the brand to watch in 2012……..
