Nicholls Colton

General information

Nicholls Colton was first established in 1965 by R.A. Nicholls and J.B. Colton as an independent Civil Engineering Consultancy providing materials testing and advisory services to the construction industry.

The Company quickly expanded to cover ground investigation, on-site materials testing and the inspection of construction materials in both new and existing bridges, buildings and highways. In addition a bespoke UKAS accredited soils and materials testing laboratory was built.

In 2005 Ian Elliot and Alex Warwick, who had both worked at the firm for over 20 years, took up ownership of the Company.

Under their leadership, the company has continued to expand; further developing the existing facilities and expertise by up-grading the existing laboratory and offering an MCERTS accredited contaminated land testing facility. In addition, Alex and Ian have opened a structural design department, in order to further meet the needs of our clients.

Today, Nicholls Colton is a customer driven, leading service provider to clients throughout the construction industry, delivering a comprehensive investigation, consultancy, laboratory analysis and structural design service throughout the UK and Ireland.
