Our 40 Years of History

What is now Just Jigsaws was established in 1973 by John and Jacqueline Trowsdale as WJ & J Trowsdale. They had already gained 40 years experience between them in the jigsaw puzzle trade and their standards of quality laid down the foundations of the company, which still exist today.

We are based in the East Midlands after relocating from the South of England in 1989 and are still a small family run firm producing hand cut wooden jigsaw puzzles in the traditional way. All our products are handmade on the premises. We believe that we are the only firm left in the UK that still makes all their own jigsaw puzzles in this way.

We have always tried to source our raw materials locally and will continue to do so for as long as this is possible. We believe this to be a positive for our environmental policy as well as the local economy. Please view our environmental policy for further information.

Although the company has produced puzzles for many major high street stores in the past, we have for some time now concentrated on manufacturing for educational catalogues supplying schools, nurseries and playgroups. In recent times we have had individual requests to supply the discerning customer and this website is a result.

We are committed to improvements made by continuous investment in people and products. This in turn fosters a large sense of pride that motivates everyone in our company.

We believe that to work in a safe environment as a team achieves a total more than the sum of the individual efforts. We therefore have a flat management system built on mutual trust and respect to cultivate best working practices, which contributes to a superior product being manufactured.
All our jigsaw puzzles are hand cut and hand finished. This means each and every puzzle is unique and crafted for your child. We do not put age references to our products, as we believe children develop at different rates and abilities can vary greatly. We believe a jigsaw puzzle should be challenging but within attainment, promoting confidence and satisfaction. We constantly strive to develop puzzles that fit in with the school curriculum.
