Flying Colours is a prestigious family run flag and banner making business based in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. We specialise in the manufacture of national, bespoke and company flags, together with fabric and PVC banners, and colourful eye-catching bunting for display and promotional use. We also supply and install aluminium and fibreglass flagpoles.

Our client base is diverse, ranging from individual collectors and SMEs to blue chip multinational and global organisations. We hold a Royal Warrant for the supply of flags and related products to Her Majesty The Queen and we have been manufacturing and supplying flags and banners to the Royal Households for over 10 years.

We advise on and supply flags, banners and bunting to numerous councils in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

Maintaining the highest standards of workmanship is our priority and we are used to managing large and demanding orders to an agreed deadline.

Our sales office staff are trained to listen to your requirements and guide you through the various options to most effectively meet your needs. We will often be able to suggest ways in which you may save money due to our extensive product knowledge. Costs are also reduced by the fact that flags are manufactured in house, in the UK.

Our flags are manufactured in a variety of ways as follows:

Appliqué sewn, using MoD industry approved hard wearing flag fabrics. This method of manufacture is most generally used in the manufacture of national flags and small quantity bespoke flags.
Screen printing (dye printing) for large quantities onto hard wearing woven polyester flag fabric. Designs and images will be printed in line colours or by stunning four colour process.
Digital printing, suitable for smaller quantities and flags with intricate designs or graphics which require an array of colour. Digital printing is generally applied to industry standard knitted polyester flag fabric. This fabric is lighter than woven fabric allowing dyes to seep into the flag fabric creating a vibrant blaze of colour. Our designers/graphic artists can create eye-catching ideas for your promotion, function or display.
Flag sizes vary from a 6” small desk top flag to the largest Union Flag in the UK, manufactured by Flying Colours and measuring 38’ x 19’. This flag is flown from Windsor Castle.

We generally offer 10 standard sizes for flags ranging from ½ yard (18” x 9”) to 6 yard (18’ x 9’) and we are happy to advise on the best size for your chosen application.

Bunting is manufactured from fabric, card and PVC, and used for creating eye-catching promotional sales and awareness displays. Bunting can be manufactured in plain colours or printed with your corporate brand or advertising theme.

We supply classic fibreglass flagpoles and aluminium flagpoles, complete with an array of other framework to support and display your flags, banners and outdoor advertising mediums. Flying Colours cover the whole of the UK and our team of flagpole engineers will install your chosen product whether this is a single ground mounted or wall mounted flagpole or a complex state of the art structure. We have experience in affixing flagpoles to listed buildings such as castles and stately homes and can advise on planning law and planning application procedure.

We supply beach flags which are used increasingly for a variety of events and for raising awareness. These flags may be manufactured in sizes from 2m to nearly 5m in height. Beach flag stands are available for indoor and outdoor applications.

Our PVC banners may be manufactured from just a few feet long to a size sufficient to wrap an entire building, and will promote your display, campaign or event and give excellent exposure for your organisation.
